MONROE — Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) this week announced the start of the Elevate Entrepreneurs Small Business Microloan Program, a new initiative designed to empower small business owners and spark local economic growth in Green County. This program is made possible through a grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).
Through this grant, GCDC will offer microloans for small business needs, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 at 0% interest for a one-year term. The program is structured to be self-sustaining — loan repayments will be reinvested into the fund, ensuring ongoing support for the next wave of local entrepreneurs.
“The Elevate Entrepreneurs program reflects the spirit of resilience and ingenuity that built Green County,” said Olivia Otte, Executive Director of GCDC. “From family farms to downtown storefronts, Green County’s history has always been shaped by individuals with the courage to take a chance and the drive to create something new. This program invests in that same entrepreneurial spirit, providing early-stage capital where it’s needed most.”
This program is designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs and current small business owners with capital purchases, marketing, operational costs, and other needs. The microloan program will prioritize applicants who may not qualify for traditional financing but have strong business concepts and community impact potential. Flexibility is an important element with this program, offering the flexibility entrepreneurs need to get started or grow.
Applications for the microloan program are currently open. Interested entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply quickly, as funds will be dispersed on a first-come, first-serve basis for approved projects.
