MONROE — The Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) has been awarded a $60,000 Small Business Technical Assistance (SBTA) grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), as part of a $2.1 million statewide initiative supporting organizations that serve entrepreneurs.

GCDC is one of 21 organizations selected in the inaugural round of SBTA funding, which is designed to expand access to critical technical assistance for small businesses across Wisconsin. The program is expected to support approximately 2,600 individuals and businesses statewide.

“The recipients of this year’s SBTA grants play a vital role in driving Wisconsin’s economy forward by supporting entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey,” said John W. Miller, secretary and CEO of WEDC. “Through these grants, we are expanding access to critical technical assistance and strengthening the small businesses that power communities across Wisconsin.”

With this funding, GCDC and its partners will establish a bilingual small business consultant position serving both Green and Lafayette counties. This position will focus on supporting underserved entrepreneurs, including Latino business owners, by providing bilingual technical assistance, fostering meaningful relationships, and building trust within the business community.

This grant will create opportunities for hands-on support to help entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain their businesses. Funding will support training, events, and specialized programming such as business accelerators.

“This investment allows us to deepen our commitment to supporting our growing small business community,” said Olivia Otte, Executive Director of GCDC. “By strengthening connections and providing bilingual support, we can ensure more entrepreneurs have the tools and confidence to succeed.”
