MONTICELLO - The fourth annual Friends of the New Glarus Public Library Trivia Night, a three-hour event coordinated by Denise Anton Wright, was held Saturday at Barnaby's Monticello House and Gabriella's Restaurant in Monticello.

The Flying Zupan Brothers emceed the event, which featured the "Heidi Men," with their own unique fashion sense, trivia questions, prize giveaways and sing-along.

First-, second- and third-place prizes were awarded to the teams correctly answering the most trivia questions, including photo and song identification and one round devoted to a movie. The featured movie this year was "The Wizard of Oz."

First place this year went to Team P.O.T. (Puempel's Olde Tavern): Brian Bubenzer, Harmony Brooks, Tracy Schick, Jodi Bubenzer, Jeremy Bigler, Alicia Greer, Andrew Bethard and Mack Reynolds.

The second-place winner was Team Down Unders (New Glarus Public Library Board): Vinnie Barber, Lexa Speth, Becky Weiss, Kevin Budsberg, Petra Streiff and Suzi Janowiak.

The third-place team was the Dewey Disciples (New Glarus Public Library staff and friends): Lauren White, Ignacia Boersma, Rachel Holcomb, Erica Loeffelholtz, Mary Zierold and Gregory Holcomb.

The purpose of Trivia Night is to have fun and to raise awareness and funds for the New Glarus Public Library. On display at the event were the proposed designs for the new library building for the public to view.

The event successfully raised funds from ticket sales and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds support the Friends of the New Glarus Public Library, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

The group meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at the New Glarus Public Library. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 24.

Upcoming events for the library will include the second annual FootGolf Event at the Argue-Ment Golf Course in May and the annual book sale at the New Glarus Public Library on Sept. 4, during Wilhelm Tell Festival weekend.
