MONROE - The Friends of the Monroe Public Library is seeking new members.

The Friends of the Monroe Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the programs the library offers the community, as well as enhancing the library facility. The Friends group has raised money to help purchase items for patrons to check out, as well as use while they are in the library. One of their most recent accomplishments was the purchasing of building items for the Green County Genealogy Society that will be located in the basement of the library.

The cost of a membership is $3 for a child or student, $5 for an adult, $3 for a senior (55 or older), $10 for a family, or $100 for a lifetime membership.

The cost of a membership will help raise the money needed for programming and furnishings throughout the library. Members will receive a membership card which will entitle them to 20 percent off any purchase from the Monroe Public Library Store, as well as an invitation to the Friends Annual Meeting and Reception. Additionally, members will be the first to be informed of special library events. The Friends group is hoping to add more perks to the membership and will keep members posted as they develop.

Alternatively, those wishing to can make a one-time donation.

More information is available at the Monroe Public Library, 925 16th Ave., or calling (608) 328-7010.
