MONTICELLO — Freshpack, a leader in cheese packaging and processing marked a major milestone last week officially by opening a 50,000 sq. ft. expansion of its South Plant facility. The ribbon cutting ceremony celebrated more than just the extra square footage — it helped begin a new era of growth, innovation and investment in the future of Freshpack’s cheese processing.
The project more than tripled the size of the original building, now totaling 70,000 sq. ft., and was a massive leap forward for Freshpack’s operation and continued growth. The expanded facility features state-of-the-art equipment upgrades, including advanced cheese spread and dip production capabilities that will double production capacity. The modernization of the production lines will allow for the creation of exciting new whipped products, continuing Freshpack’s tradition of delivering industry-leading solutions.
Over the next five years, Freshpack anticipates adding 50 new jobs in Monticello and processing an additional 11 million pounds of cheese annually, including millions of pounds sourced from Wisconsin cheesemakers.
“Today is more than a ribbon cutting,” said Todd Kriebs, President and CEO of Freshpack. “It’s a statement of belief in our future and in the people and partners who are making that future happen.”
The event brought together community leaders, project partners, and employees for a celebratory look at the facility. Guests toured the newly expanded space and sampled a variety of spreads produced at Freshpack, showcasing the creativity and quality at the heart of the company.
