FREEPORT: Silvercreek opening slated for May 24

FREEPORT - The Silvercreek Museum and SilverCreek and Stephenson Railroad will open for the season with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 24. An ice cream social will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday, May 24 and 25. The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an admission of $3 for adults with children under 12 admitted free.

The SilverCreek and Stephenson Railroad hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the train leaving the Silver Creek Depot every hour on the hour. Cost to ride the train will be $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12 years of age. Cab rides are still available for a cost of $10 per person. The Depot as well as the Freight House Gift Shop will also be open both Sunday and Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the train are purchased at the Depot which contains many items related to the railroad and it past. The Freight House gift shop features items related to railroad and many items related to the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club.
