FREEPORT - Freeport Choral Society's annual spring concert is 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at St. John United Church of Christ, 1010 S. Park Boulevard, Freeport. David Gutschlag will direct the group with Carol Bertram playing keyboards.
The Choral Society will perform a cantata "The Peaceable Kingdom" by American 20th century choral composer Randall Thompson. "Pilgrim's Chorus" from "Tannhauser" by Richard Wagner, "Creation" by Richter, and "Salvation is Created" by Tschesnokoff will be selections in the classical vein. "At the River" by John Jacobson, "For God So Loved" by Martin, and a medley from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" by Andrew Lloyd Webber complete a more contemporary section.
A large and varied group of hand bell and hand chime ringers will perform several selections including a patriotic medley for bells and piano for four hands, organ, and trumpet.
