MONROE — NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots organization dedicated to providing education, support, and advocacy to family members and individuals whose lives are affected by mental illness. Beginning at 6 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 20, NAMI Green County will be offering the eight-session Family-to-Family course in a virtual format.

Family-to-Family is a nationally acclaimed evidence-based course intended for family members, friends, and caregivers of adult individuals living with a mental illness. This means that research has demonstrated that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving skills of people closest to a person with a mental health condition. Taught by two NAMI-trained family members, you’ll learn about communicating more effectively, current therapies and treatments, managing your own stress, and much more. For many attendees the course has been a life-changing experience.

There is no charge, and you need not be a NAMI member to attend. Because the course is being offered virtually, it is important to register by Feb. 10 to receive course materials promptly. For more details and how to register, visit the website namigreencounty.org and follow the prompts to the Family-to-Family education course or call the NAMI Green County Office at 608-324-4677.
