‘Super Heroes’ is July 4 theme in Monroe

The Monroe July 4 celebration plans are well underway with the Parks and Recreation Department.

MONROE — The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department is busy making plans for the annual July 4 celebration with a theme of “Super Heroes.” 

The event will be held at Twining Park Thursday, July 4 and will offer Kiwanis horse and wagon rides from 1 to 4 p.m. and Lion’s Club petting zoo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Carnival games will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include Carnival Land and sponsors: 

●  Getaway Car Game — Colony Brands. Children pick one of the cars. 

●  Steal a Sucker off Sucker Tree — Morning Optimists. Suckers will 

be dressed like superheroes. 

●  Strike out the Villain Game — Woodford State Bank. Throw a ball and knock down a villain.

●  Super Hero Actions — Monroe Morning Optimists. Spin the Wheel of Misfortune. 

●  Hulk Smash — VFW Post and VFW Auxiliary. 

●  Web Toss — Knights of Columbus. Throw the beanbag and see where it lands. 

●  Plinko Action; Look and Act like a Super Hero — Culver’s of Monroe and New Glarus. 

●  Face Painting and Tattoos — Colony Brands. 

●  Squirt the Villain — Monsignor Thomas Campion Charitable Fund. 

●  Fish for your Super Hero — Sons of Norway. Get a live fish or a Superhero rubber ducky. 

●  Super Hero in Training — Cliff and Dorothy Reasa Community Charitable Fund of the Monroe Fund. 

●  Boom-Pow-Bang Football Toss — Monroe Clinic SSM Health. Throw the football. 

●  Bounce in Planet Super Hero — Crossroads Church.

A slow-pitch tournament will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and volleyball tournament will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Various concession stands will be open. Registration for the tournaments is still open. Plan to finish the day with the City band concert at 8 p.m. 

Fireworks are sponsored by the City of Monroe: Gold Sponsor, Colony Brands & Affiliates; and Silver Sponsor, Cliff & Dorothy Reasa Charitable Fund of the Monroe Fund. The Salute to America Sky Concert is sponsored by presenting sponsor, Wisconsin Bank & Trust to complete the celebration at dusk.
