MONROE — From humble beginnings at dive bars and house parties, Fletcher Rockwell has gone on to be featured on famous Chicagoland stages like House of Blues, Fitzgerald’s and Cubby Bear. Now they’re coming to downtown Monroe. Don’t miss Main Street Monroe’s big, epic, final show of the season on Friday, Aug. 16.
Fletcher Rockwell is classic Americana, rock and roll steeped in blue-collar charm, soulful and spirited with a bit of swagger. While widely known for their originals, the group is also revered for covers spanning everything from vintage Tom Petty to contemporary roots revivalists like Mumford & Sons and Chris Stapleton. Just wait until you hear them play “Tennessee Whiskey.”
The Main Street Monroe Concert series is planned for the whole family to enjoy. The Aug. 16 show has some surprises in store for the younger crowd. Monroe Park and Rec Department will be hosting their Prince and Princess Night on the grounds of the “castle” (Historic Green County Courthouse), and afterwards there will be games, sidewalk chalk and some bouncy fun on the courthouse lawn.
While shopping and dining in downtown Monroe, keep an eye out for the rubber ducks that have been “flocking” to the downtown Square. You’ll know you found one if it is tagged with a message that says “could this be a lucky duck?” Bring your (potentially) lucky ducks to the show on Aug. 16 and you’ll be invited to take part in a game at intermission. Prizes are involved for an evening that is sure to be all it’s “quacked up” to be!
Those who enjoy Concerts on the Square and other Main Street events should consider getting involved as a volunteer. For more information:
