MONROE - The Monroe Excellence in Education Fund announced that First National Bank and Trust reached $10,000 in contributions to the fund through their five-year sponsorship of the annual Steak-n-Shake fundraiser. The bank has been the event's lead sponsor since 2008.
Proceeds from the Steak-n-Shake fundraisers are given back to the community by the EIE Fund in the form of grants. These grants are used to enhance educational programs, extend educational opportunities, encourage innovation and recognize the achievements of students and staff in the School District of Monroe.
Since its founding in 2000, the Monroe EIE Fund has awarded more than $80,000 in grants to the Monroe school district. The Monroe Excellence in Education Fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
This year's Steak-n-Shake was held on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Flanagan's Shenanigans. The event featured a silent auction that included art and metal projects made by Monroe High School students and staff.
