MONROE - The Monroe Volunteer Firefighters annual fund-raising pancake breakfast will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at the fire station at 1110 18th Ave.
Tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for children 4 to 12. Children 3 and under eat free.
The event will include Freddie the Fire Truck and rides on a fire truck. Every 50th adult will eat free. There will also be a silent auction.
The breakfast coincides with October Fire Prevention month and replaces the annual fund-raising dance held in previous years.
Funds raised and additional donations help the non-profit organization support the Fire Prevention Bureau by supporting the purchase of fire prevention materials; contributing to Freddie the Fire Truck and a new Sparky fire dog costume; helping individuals in need; providing scholarships; and supporting programs around the community.
