FHN staff to wear red for heart disease

FREEPORT - People who have an appointment on Friday, Feb. 5, be prepared to see red. FHN has invited all staff to participate in Wear Red Day Feb. 5.

"We will have information about heart health available for anyone who is interested, whether they're men or women," said coordinator Diane Bardell. "The purpose of Wear Red Day is to raise everyone's awareness of how they can stay healthy and reduce their risk of heart attack. This particular day focuses on women, because heart disease is sometimes viewed, incorrectly, as a 'man's disease.' But the information we'll have available is useful for both men and women.

"Wear Red Day also serves as a great opportunity for people to talk to their healthcare provider about heart health, even if their appointment that day is for another reason," Bardell said. "The American Heart Association has an excellent resource available - Questions to Ask Your Doctor - that can help both men and women start a conversation with their provider about heart health. That sheet is available online at www.fhn.org., so you can download it and be prepared for your next appointment."
