MONTICELLO - The Monticello FFA Chapter earned gold for its National Chapter Award application, offered through the National FFA Organization.
An application first must get approval from the Wisconsin FFA Association as gold status before it is forwarded on for national competition. The National Chapter Award recognizes chapters that work to promote the FFA mission and strategies of the organization.
The chapter will be recognized at the Wisconsin FFA Convention in June and the application will get reviewed at the national level. If the chapter gets a 3-star rating at the national level, it will be recognized in Indianapolis in October at the National FFA Convention.
Some of the activities that the chapter highlighted in its application include: planning for the year with the chapter officer retreat, public speaking success, and hosting a 3-D archery shoot with the Marshall Bluff Bowhunters.
One of the newer activities was called "Wild About Turkey Education." The activity focused on educating Monticello second-graders about environmental conservation through studying the wild turkey.
