MONROE - Fehr-Graham & Associates has received two Engineering Excellence Awards from the Illinois Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). The ACEC Awards Competition recognizes projects of engineering achievement by Illinois engineering firms. Firms can submit one or two projects, completed within the past year, for consideration. Entries are judged based on engineering excellence, the degree to which the client's needs are met, and the benefits to public welfare and the private practice of engineering.

In cooperation with EcoGrove, LLC, Fehr-Graham & Associates submitted the EcoGrove Wind Project in the Energy category. The EcoGrove Wind Project is a 100 megawatt (MW) wind energy conversion facility consisting of sixty-seven turbines. The project was developed over 8,000 acres in northwestern Stephenson County, with an estimated construction cost of $250 million. Fehr-Graham was involved in all phases of this project, from Project Development to Environmental Permitting, and Design through Construction. The EcoGrove Wind Project received a Special Achievement Award in the Energy category. "All of us at Fehr-Graham & Associates want to thank EcoGrove, LLC for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this project. We wish them the best with this renewable energy project," said R. Todd Weegens, Principal at Fehr-Graham & Associates.

In conjunction with The City of Rockford, Fehr-Graham & Associates submitted the Ekberg Water Main Rehabilitation 2008 project for consideration in the Small Projects category. This project consisted of constructing a 10-inch diameter main extension that connected two existing well facilities thereby providing a system loop and redundancy. Fehr-Graham provided the engineering and construction management services for this project. Fehr-Graham also provided environmental assessment and remediation services, necessary due to the industrial nature of the alignment of the water main extension. These services allowed the careful management of site conditions during construction. The Ekberg Water Main project received a Merit Award in the Small Projects Category. "We are pleased to showcase the multi-discipline capabilities of our team and the foresight and leadership that the City of Rockford Water Department has in completing these kinds of efforts," said Mark Painter, Project Manager at Fehr-Graham & Associates.
