MONROE — The St. Clare Parish Center will be torn down in the coming days to make way for a $3.020 million construction project for the St. Victor Church Aug. 17. The construction is scheduled for completion by April 2019.

The building was originally used to house the priest throughout the 1970s, but for the last 20 years it has been used as office space for the parish.

Monsignor Larry Bakke said the new addition to the church would make it more accessible and will offer an additional 11,760 square feet of space. It will also add more accessible parking, have new restrooms, a covered drop off area and space for parish offices. Also, for special events that have a lot of overflow, the addition will have seating for around 200 people.

Kraemer Brothers of Plain, Wisconsin, will be the construction management team and Plunkett Raysich Architects, out of Milwaukee is the architectural firm.

“One of our greatest goals is to have the addition look like it’s been there,” Bakke said. “It’ll look kind of like a perfect match to it.”

Bakke said the parish serves about 900 households throughout the area.

“We’ve received a lot of support and we’re glad to see it’s happening,” Bakke said.
