MONROE — Hundreds of residents of Monroe and surrounding areas came out May 7 and 8 to the Green County Humane Society’s “Catio” project garage sale.
The sale included donated items from community members, and there was certainly no lack of products to choose from.
GCHS Executive Director Matt Mullen said that at one point, the donations completely filled the room and covered the walls of the old Brennan’s building.
Its central location allowed easy access for those passing through town.
“We’re so thankful to [the Brennan family] for letting us use this,” Mullen said. “This location is just unbeatable.”
Thanks to community support and involvement, the sale raised its goal of $6,000 to go towards a new outdoor patio enclosure for the humane society’s cats to enjoy.
Mullen’s goal is to have the catio project completed by the end of summer, but the next step to find a contractor for the project has proven difficult due to the high demand and busy schedules many contractors are facing.
If an end-of-summer timeline will not be met, Mullen said that the catio will be put in next spring.
