MONROE —­ The Foreign Type Cheesemaker’s Association would like to announce the results of the 2021 Green County Fair Cheese Contest & Auction. They had 30 bidders with a total Auction of $52,985.00 on 85 pieces of cheese (a total of 404 pounds). The Grand Champion, Aged Gouda made by Gary Grossen of UW Babcock Hall, Madison, sold for $525.00/pound for a total of $4462.50 to Faith Engineering, Inc. Ruchti Stainless, Inc. and Faith Engineering, Inc. entered the highest bids per pound for 6 packs of Stettler Colby Swiss Spread made by Steve Stettler, Decatur Dairy, Inc., Brodhead. Thanks go to all bidders and purchasers who made this auction such a success. 

They also want to thank Dave & Rena Koning, Paul Beach and Joe Mellem for conducting an excellent auction. Alpine Slicing of Monroe, donated their services in cutting and packaging all of the cheese for auction. 

Foreign Type is very proud of their Cheesemakers and the excellent cheese they produce. The cheese that was not sold at the auction (approximately 300 pounds) was donated to the Monroe and Green County Food Pantries for distribution in the communities. 

The auction proceeds will support the United Way, the National Historic Cheesemaking Center, the Green County Fair and other Dairy & Cheese related events over the next year.
