MONROE — Green County 4-H Horse Project recently received a donation from Blain’s Farm & Fleet of sand for their horse arena at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe. The three truckloads of sand were used at the Blain’s Farm & Fleet grand opening weekend, April 30 to May 2, before being generously donated to the 4-H Horse Project. This donation will help ensure local 4-H youth have a safe place to ride and work with their horses during 4-H Horse events and the Green County Fair Horse Show.
Green County 4-H Horse Project offers workshops and ride nights in the disciplines of Trail, Halter, Showmanship, English Pleasure, English Equitation, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship and Western Riding. Youth learn about the safe and responsible care of a horse, along with the concepts and issues of management, health and other animal science principles. Donations are used to offset workshop costs to keep youth participation fees at a lower rate.
