Local Emu Farm Holds Open House, Residents Invited to Tour the Farm

BRODHEAD - As a part of their participation in the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce's "Tour the Farms Day", Mike and Joylene Reavis, owners of Sugar Maple Emu Farm, are inviting folks to come out for a farm tour from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Sugar Maple Emu Farm will join with several Brodhead area farms in opening their farms to visitors.

The emu farm open house will host pen tours on the hour and half hour, weather permitting.

Five area "niche" farms will be included in Tour the Farms Day:

• Kinkoona Farm, sheep farm, www.baabaashop.com

• Scotch Hill Farm, milking goats and organic community gardening, www.scotchhillfarm.com

• Applied Ecological Services/Taylor Creek Nursery, prairie restoration service, www.appliedeco.com/tcrn

• Neiman Dairy Farm, family operated dairy farm.

Plus, the "Emu Beauty Contest" and other activities on Tinker's Square in downtown Brodhead.
