MONROE - The libraries of Green County announce a joint community reading program entitled "Green County Reads."

The promotion is intended to encourage everyone to read the same book at the same time.

The culminating event will be an appearance by the novel's author, David Rhodes at 7 p.m., May 19th, at the Monroe Arts Center. All events are free and open to the public. Green County Reads will run through May 19th.

The selected title is "Driftless" by David Rhodes. Set in the Driftless Area of southwestern Wisconsin, the novel tells the story of inhabitants of the unincorporated community of Words.

The plot unfolds through their eyes and the ways they interact with and impact one another.

Copies of the book are available in standard print, large print, CD audiobook, and Playaway.

They may be checked out from any of the participating libraries, which include the public libraries of Albany, Belleville, Brodhead, Monroe, Monticello, and New Glarus; as well as the Learning Resource Center at Monroe's Blackhawk Technical College campus.

Discussion groups will be held at assorted times throughout the county. Please contact your nearest library for dates, times and locations.
