ORANGEVILLE - The Orangeville Education Foundation will be hosting the annual firemen's festival parade and "Stop-Drop-and-Beg Dogfest" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jane Addams Shelter House, 1811 W. High St. Admission is free.

Hairy Pawter, a 4-pound Yorkshire terrier, will be returning to Dogfest again this year. He will be driving a tank and squirting water from it in honor of veterans. Hairy will be filming a major motion picture this summer in Hollywood. The movie is based on the true story of Stormy, a dog who helped soldiers cope with hardships during World War II. At Dogfest, Hairy will have the books for sale and will "pawtograph" them for you. All proceeds from book sales benefit canine cancer research.

Dogfest will begin with a one-mile doggie dash on the Jane Addams Trail. There will be games, contests, challenges, wiener dog races, obedience and agility demonstrations, silent auctions, vendors, free doggie nail trims, discounted dog clipping, off-leash play area, kids make-and-take crafts and more.

Items will be collected for Friends Forever Humane Society. Proceeds from Dogfest benefit Orangeville schools. Donations will also be collected for firemen.

Vendors are welcome. Contact Emily Campbell for more information, or visit the website: www.oefdogfest.com.
