FREEPORT — Highland Community College’s Lifelong Learning program is opening the doors to discovery with a new lineup of classes designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection this fall. Whether you want to explore history, expand your creative skills, or dive into the latest technology, there’s something for everyone.
“Lifelong Learning is all about discovery,” said Chris Kuberski, Highland Community College President. “These classes are designed to spark curiosity, whether that’s uncovering hidden history, picking up a new hobby, or trying your hand at something creative and fun.”
Classes are open to the community, with no prior experience required. Seats are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

● Creative Cardmaking Workshop — Unleash your inner artist as you craft beautiful, personalized cards for any occasion. (Saturday, Oct. 4, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
● Introduction to Journaling — Learn techniques to turn journaling into a lifelong tool for reflection, creativity, and personal growth. (Sunday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
● Medicine and Command at Antietam — Step back into the Civil War era and examine the pivotal role of battlefield medicine and leadership at Antietam. (Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
● Designing with Denim — Give old denim new life by transforming it into stylish and functional creations. (Saturday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. — 12 p.m.)
● Assassination of Lincoln: Context, Conspiracy, and Consequences — Explore the layers of history surrounding Lincoln’s assassination and the ripple effects that followed. (Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)
