DHS announces dates for Senior Awards, graduation

DARLINGTON — Senior Awards Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14 at 10 a.m. in the Darlington gymnasium. Parents, relatives, and friends are invited to attend. The program is designed to recognize citizenship, academic achievement, and extracurricular accomplishments.

A variety of scholarships will be distributed. Selected seniors will be recipients of the Marriott Scholarships, Barlow Scholarships and Erickson Foundation Scholarship. One male and female will receive the Howard J. and Sally A. Friske Scholarship and the Sieg Foundation Scholarship.

The DHS students receiving the State of Wisconsin Higher Educational Aids Board Academic Excellence Scholarships will be announced by Principal Mitchell Austin. High School Counselor Tom Uppena will name this year’s winner of the Stephen M. White and Mary F. Lindell Citizenship Awards. Athletic awards will be outlined by Lindsey Crist, D.H.S. Athletic Director.

Graduation ceremonies for the Darlington High School Class of 2025 will be held Friday, May 23 at 7 p.m. The Concert Band will play the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” as graduating seniors enter the gymnasium.  This is the 148th graduating class of Darlington High School.

Senior Class President, Ross Crist, will welcome all in attendance and recognize the retirees. Ross is the son of Matt and Cynthia Crist. The welcome will be followed by senior honor speakers.

Honor graduates speaking at this year’s graduation are Eli Aird, son of Michael and Amanda Aird, and Landon King, son of Jason and Tammy King. District Administrator Mr. Cale Jackson will present the class as members of the School Board distribute diplomas to the class.

Following closing remarks by Mr. Mitchell Austin, the graduates will recess from the gym as the concert band plays “Fanfare”.
