MONROE — The exhibit titled “The Structured Surface” by Monroe artist Deborah Meyer will be on display in the Wellington and Muranyi Galleries at Monroe Arts Center Friday, Nov. 22 through Wednesday, Jan. 22. Meyer uses a variety of materials held together by acrylic paint in order to pay tribute to the natural world. Landscapes, birds and flowers are the primary emphasis of this exhibit.
Monroe Arts Center is located at 1315 11th Street, Monroe.
Capturing light has become the focus of this artist’s work and her inspiration. Light transforms the mundane to the extraordinary. Close observation and careful study of her subject matter is Meyer’s process and allows her to help the viewer find beauty in this world.
Meyer’s foundation as an artist started in her early childhood and continued to evolve into her own personal vision. She has become so interested in the application of materials and ideas that it naturally became her desire to share techniques she developed with other artists, which have resulted in workshops and classes that inspire and challenge.
A gallery opening reception for this exhibit is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22. A brief gallery talk will take place at 5:30 p.m. In addition to the gallery opening reception that evening, will be the opening of the Monroe Arts Center’s 22nd Annual Holiday Silent Auction. Those attending can browse the hundreds of items on display and join in bidding. The auction ends at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.
