MONROE - As producers are winding down with the planting of their crops, they are reminded to report the planted acres to the Green County Farm Service Agency office by July 15.

Teresa Zimmer of the Green County FSA office said, "This year, the producers will need to call us to schedule their crop certification appointments. In previous years, we scheduled these appointments when the producers were in to complete the sign up for the other farm programs. Since there is not a completed 2008 Farm Bill, producers have not signed up for farm programs as of yet, and may end up doing so in August or September. However, the crop certification deadline of July 15th has not changed."

After the July 15th reporting deadline, producers will be charged a minimum late-filing fee of $46 per farm. Timely filed acreage reports may be revised at any time without a late filing charge as long as the crop may still be verified in the field.

To avoid late filing charges, contact the Green County Farm Service Agency today to make an appointment or to receive additional information, call (608) 325-4195, ext. 2.
