DARLINGTON - Over 330 Lafayette County fourth-grade students and teachers will travel to Highway Dairy Farms on Thursday, May 8 for the second Annual Lafayette County Day at the Dairy.
The day is being sponsored by a group of local dairy producers to provide an educational experience about dairy farming in Lafayette County. Farms include Cottonwood Dairy, LLC; Darlington Ridge Farms, LLC; Highway Dairy Farms, LLC; and Redrock-View Farms. Additional local sponsors have been secured to pay for educational material, lunch and transportation expenses.
Kristin Olson, Alice in Dairyland, will be one of the presenters. Students will have an opportunity to participate in a mock milking station, to feed a calf and to see what life is like every day on a Wisconsin dairy farm. A lunch consisting of pizza, milk and apple slices will be provided, as well as a sampling of other dairy products.
