Two hundred fifty years ago, the American colonies set forth a bold new vision for human freedom, declaring that the rights of individuals do not flow from monarchs but are inherent to all people. From that revolutionary idea emerged the United States, a nation built on enduring ideals of liberty, equality, self governance, and justice.
As the country marks this historic anniversary, the Benjamin Harrison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will host a series of activities throughout the year to honor this milestone and celebrate the spirit of independence that continues to shape our national identity. For more information or to get involved, message DAR through its Colonel Benjamin Harrison Chapter DAR Facebook page.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War. Today’s DAR is dynamic and diverse, with over 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters in the United States and abroad.
DAR members annually provide millions of hours of volunteer service to their local communities across the country and world.
