MONROE — The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) wish to announce the 2025 Winners of their Good Citizen Award in Green and Lafayette County Schools. The name of the local DAR Chapter is the Colonel Benjamin Harrison Chapter based out of Monroe.
The Good Citizen Award is given to an outstanding senior high school student that exhibits the qualities of a good citizen: Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism. The student receives the honor as recommended by the school’s guidance office. In addition to the award, some recipients participate in an essay contest for a scholarship awarded by DAR (this is optional). The essays are judged by retired educators and the winning entry is forwarded to the state DAR level for further judging. Although the local winner did not advance past the state level, she was awarded a small financial amount by the local chapter. DAR is proud of all this year’s Good Citizen Award Winners and feel optimistic about our nation’s future with such outstanding young people in our midst.
