MADISON - Dance Wisconsin will presentsNew Works 2008 "Dance For Life" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Mitby Theater, Madison Area Technical College. This is a special benefit for Breast Cancer and Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation.
Showcased will be Monroe dancer Claire Wyttenbach who will be performing the White Swan variation from Swan Lake along with several other new pieces by local choreographers, Chelsey Dahm, Ashley Dahm, Celia Pierquet-Flores and Danielle Dickert Fuhrmann. A special piece "Run for Life," choreographed by Dickert to the music of Melissa Etheridge is dedicated to the many who are surviving breast cancer. Artistic Director's Jo Jean Retrum's daughter Jorene Leonard has choreographed a new piece "Mercy" for the company. The company now includes young people from the area but also has several professional dancers in their roster, including Ashley Dahm, former dancer with Joel Hall and Ashley Wendt, formerly with North Caroline Dance Theater and Celia Pierquet-Flores formerly with MB II and DCDC II.
