MADISON — Discover Dairy Careers, a new digital escape room from Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, engages high-school students with intriguing puzzles while introducing them to potential careers in the dairy industry. Visit https://www.wisconsindairy.org/escaperoom to download the game.
This interactive learning tool is the latest educational initiative from Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, designed to help students uncover the many exciting career pathways in dairy, the state’s largest agriculture sector. Intended for groups of 4–6 students sharing a single laptop or similar device, the game takes about 30 minutes to complete and requires internet access. An accompanying educator guide helps teachers maximize the learning experience.
“Students will have a lot of fun navigating their way through a virtual farm to solve mysteries and open the farm’s safe combination, while also learning how their interests and skills could translate into exciting dairy careers,” said Erika Schade, DFW’s School & Community Programs Manager.
Following the adventures of a character named Aggie Couture, students explore different careers such as dairy farm manager, herd nutritionist and veterinarian while learning about important agricultural resources including forage, shelter and water, and their impact on farming.
The dairy industry is vital to Wisconsin’s economy, providing more than 120,000 jobs and contributing $52.8 billion annually. Through programs like Discover Dairy Careers, DFW promotes career awareness while reinforcing sustainability, stewardship, community, and innovation – values that strengthen Wisconsin’s identity as America’s Dairyland.
This marks the first year the escape room is available to educators and students, and DFW looks forward to feedback as classrooms across the state put it to use.
