FREEPORT — The Senior Resource Center invites the public to a free Lunch & Learn event on Thursday, August 14 at noon, featuring a special presentation from representatives of Stephenson County Crime Stop.

This informative session will introduce attendees to Stephenson County Crime Stop, the oldest Crime Stop organization in Illinois, founded in 1981. Learn how this nonprofit works to support local law enforcement by empowering citizens to report crime anonymously through the secure P3 Tip Program.

Participants will hear how the tip system works — from submitting a tip, to receiving a confidential tracking number, and even how tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest. Most importantly, the program guarantees anonymity, making it a safe and effective way for individuals to help protect their communities.

The presentation will also explore the organization’s broader impact, including community outreach, scholarship donations, and support for positive youth initiatives like Shop with a Cop.

Guests will learn how they can get involved in promoting public safety, attend monthly meetings at the Stephenson County Farm Bureau, or volunteer with the organization.

The Senior Resource Center’s Lunch & Learn series takes place on the second Thursday of each month at Noon and is free to attend. The Center is located at 206 E. Stephenson Street in Freeport.
