MONROE - The Public Library announces "Create a Hero" using graphic novel ideas by drawing freehand or using a computer generated image.

Illustrators should draw their character on an 8.5- by 11-inch standard paper. It can be created with color or noncolor. Then choose a name for the graphic novel hero. Be sure to include a name, age and the name of the hero at the bottom right corner of the drawing.

Submit heroes to Mrs. Solawetz or Miss Kris. They will put together a short story using the graphic novel heroes.

The best graphic novel hero drawing will be chosen and used as the main character in the graphic novel hero short story. There will be a prize for the best drawing. Copies of the story will be printed with the character and illustrator's name.

The deadline to submit drawings is Monday, Jan. 11.
