County Fair winners

The 2008 Green County Fair was a huge success for the 35 Monroe FFA members who exhibited dairy, beef, swine, sheep, chickens, rabbits, crops, and crafts during the fair. Members worked hard on their projects for many months and were rewarded for their efforts.

Members that won top honors include: Kristin Rupnow - Grand Champion Senior - any other breed and Grand Champion Overall - any other breed; Caleb Rupnow - Reserve Champion Senior - any other breed and Reserve Grand Champion Overall - any other breed; Amy Schlappi - Grand Champion Senior - Brown Swiss and Grand Champion Overall - Brown Swiss; Caleb Ahrens - Champion Medium Weight Beef Steer, Grand Champion Overall Steer and Champion Showman Grades 9 - 10; Tabatha Huber - Champion Senior Doe (Goats) and Best Meat Doe (Goats); and Robert Huber - Reserve Champion Senior Doe (Goats) and Reserve Champion Senior Showman. Robert also participated in the Master Showman Contest.

Members also sold their animals in the livestock and fur and feather auction on Saturday, July 19. Businesses and supporters purchased the members animals during the auction. Buyers of the members' animals include: Beachs Auction Service, D and T Angus, Woodford State Bank, Green County Locker, Westfalia Surge (2 animals), Ken Clark Family, Carrousel Grain Unit, Evansville FFA, Badger State Ethanol, Greg's Feed and Seed, Pleasant Grain LLC, and Flower's by Kim. Buyers also purchased members' animals that showed through their 4-H Clubs. Those buyers include: Pecatonica Co-Op Oil Company, Westfalia Surge (2 animals), Pearl City Elevator Incorporated, Precision Drive and Control Incorporated, Ruchti Stainless Inc, Pleasant Grain LLC (2 animals), Ag Tech, and Hoesly's Meats and Groceries.
