MONROE - The Green County 4-H Program held its annual awards and recognition banquet at the Green County Justice Center Multi-Purpose Rooms on Nov. 7.

Key Award winners Kiera Berger, Young Americans 4-H; Abby Faith, Hiawatha 4-H; Patrick Gellings, Young Americans 4-H; Ariel Krupke, New Horizons 4-H; and Cassie Wymer, Clarence Bridge Pioneers were recognized and awarded the 2010 Wisconsin 4-H Key Award.

The prestigious Key Award, one of the highest honors a 4-H member can receive, honors a select group of 4-H participants annually. The youth receiving this award are ones who have demonstrated consistent growth in their 4-H involvement, developed and applied their leadership skills, and actively participated in the functions of their club and community.

According to UW-Extension Green County 4-H and Youth Development Agent Alissa Grenawalt, youth who received the awards in 2010 truly exemplify the goals and values of the Wisconsin 4-H Program.

"To recognize members that have pledged their head, heart, hands and health to 4-H and have continuously grown from the program is what this recognition is all about. It is truly an honor to distinguish these youth for all of their accomplishments," she said.

Key Award recipients are high school students with at least three years of experience in 4-H and one year as a youth leader. The Wisconsin Farm Bureau and Rural Insurance Companies sponsor the Wisconsin 4-H Key Award Program.

They have sponsored these awards for more than 25 years.
