Cornish Society to honor St. Piran

DODGEVILLE - Members and friends of the Southwest Wisconsin Cornish Society will meet on Sunday, March 3 at Sam and Maddies, 3656 Wisconsin 23 to honor St. Piran.

A pasty luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. The men includes a pasty, coleslaw, chili sauce, figgy hobbin with ice cream and caramel sauce, and a beverage.

Prepaid reservations are required by Monday, Feb. 25. The cost is $16 per person. Checks can be made payable to: Carolyn Meuer, 1103 Georgene St., Dodgeville, WI 53533.

Following the lunch, the winners of the 2012-13 Mary Benson Writing Contest will read their winning entries.

Each year, on or about March 5, Cornish people around the world will gather in groups to honor the memory of St. Piran, the Patron Saint of Tinners.
