Monroe Parks and Recreation 4th of July Celebration, all day, Twining Park, Monroe. Tot Lot singers perform at Bandshell at 10:30 a.m.; children's games begin at 11 a.m.; co-ed volleyball and slow-pitch tournaments all day; horse and wagon rides from 1 to 4 p.m.; City Band concert at 8 p.m.; fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Vehicles will not be able to drive through the park during the fireworks. No sparklers or fireworks allowed in park.

Washington Church Music Festival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Washington Reformation Church, Church Road. Five miles west of Monticello, off County C. Food, live bands, quilt raffle. Suggested donation of $5. Rain or shine.
