LENA - The Peight family, Lena community and Rock River Valley Blood Center will host a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Sullivan's Grocery Store, 201 Dodd's Drive, Lena.

Brian Peight was severely injured in an automobile accident in 2006.

He used more than 80 units of blood during his recovery.

Brian's family and the Lena community initiated an annual blood drive.

Come join the Peight family and Lena community as they help to increase the blood supply in the Rock River Valley community, during the challenging summer months.

There also will be a bake sale, Kool-Aid stand, and 50/50 raffle.

Call Annie Peight at (815) 541-0920 to make an appointment to donate blood or show up the day of the drive.

Donating blood is safe and simple.

Donors are at least 17 years old (16-year-olds may donate with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in general good health.

Persons taking medications are not necessarily disqualified.
