MONROE — The Green County Community Baby Shower is being hosted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 16 at the Green County Family YMCA, hosted by Green County Public Health, the Brodhead Memorial Public Library, and Green County Human Services.
Families are encouraged to RSVP for this event, but it is not required. The first 70 families to RSVP will receive a free new baby bag, generously donated by United Way of Green County. To RSVP go to https://tinyurl.com/4a2ax6uw.
The Community Baby Shower will allow new and soon-to-be parents to connect with over 15 local community organizations who have programs and services to support them and their baby. Some of these organizations include local libraries, the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, UW-Extension Green County, Safe Kids South Central, Rubber Ducky Diaper Depot, and so many others.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend free workshop classes; the first class begins at 11:30 a.m. and will cover breastfeeding information with a Certified Lactation Counselor and Public Health Nurse from Green County Public Health. The second class will begin at noon and will focus on car seat safety with Green County Public Health’s Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. The final class will be an arts and crafts project with staff from the Monroe Arts Center, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
There will be over a dozen prizes available for attendees to enter to win; including a highchair, wagon, swing, bath set, car seat, pack n’ play, and lots of other great prizes.
Light refreshments will be available for free for attendees; including drinks, cheese and crackers, fruits and vegetables, and, of course, cupcakes.
Free childcare will be available in the new Kids’ Zone for event attendees’ children during the time of the event, thanks to the Green County Family YMCA.
