MONROE — The Monroe Arts Center (MAC) will bring Vicki Quade’s production of Christmas Bingo to the Monroe community on Dec. 14.
Quade — co-creator of the longest running religious comedy in Chicago’s history, Late Nite Catechism — brings divine entertainment and laughter to southern Wisconsin with this holiday comedy. Christmas Bingo features the character Mrs. Mary Margaret O’Brien, a former nun and current bingo caller.
Audience members will enjoy playing bingo while also answering questions about Christmas traditions like the origin of St. Nick and where candy canes come from during this interactive comedy. Quade insists that guests do not have to be Catholic to enjoy the show, adding that audiences “like the fact that it’s a clean show, it’s funny, it’s respectful.”
Quade has been telling stories as a journalist, playwright, theater producer and performer for years. She is best known for co-creating the one-woman show, Late Nite Catechism, opening in 1993. Quade also worked with WGN to create a talk radio parody, You’re On the Air. Her new book, Close Encounters of a Chicago Kind, was published in 2020 by Eckhartz Press.
