SHULLSBURG - On behalf of the Southern Area Association, the Lafayette County Land Conservation Committee and Department have a trip back in time planned for Friday, June 19, at Veteran's Memorial Badger Park, W. Estey St., in Shullsburg. Registration begins at 9 a.m., Southern Area meeting 9:30 a.m.; tours begin at 9:30 a.m. and wrap up at 3 p.m. Cost is $20 which includes coffee and donuts, picnic lunch and tour admissions.
The tour will focus on the mining history in Lafayette County. There are steep steps into the mine, good walking shoes are recommended - no sandals. People may wish to bring a jacket, as mine temperatures are a constant 55 degrees; dress appropriately.
