AMES, Iowa — Cora Carpenter, majoring in Agricultural and Life Sciences Education at Iowa State University, was elected to serve as publicity chair of the Sigma Alpha Chapter at Iowa State University in 2019 by chapter members.
In her role as publicity chair, Carpenter, from Darlington, is responsible for sharing Sigma Alpha’s events and member successes on social media.
Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural sorority that promotes scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship among its members.
Nationally, Sigma Alpha supports Agriculture in the Community.
The Iowa State chapter works with the Story County Farm Bureau to host Agriculture in the Classroom events in Ames area schools; participates in CROP Hunger Walk, and highway cleanup.
The chapter is advised by Melea Licht, director, Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Alumni Relations.
UW-Whitewater
WHITEWATER — Guenevere Adams, Monroe, studying at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is among this year’s scholarship recipients from the College of Letters and Sciences.
Adams won the following scholarship:
● Richter Family Scholarship. Founded by Dennis and Merry Richter in 2015. This scholarship helps students to pursue research under the guidance of faculty in physical geography and GIS.
