Monroe Clinic reports that, for now, it has enough supplies and capacity to care for patients.

MONROE — Monroe Clinic will sponsor two “Mental Health First Aid” trainings in January.

The first opportunity is geared toward helping youth and takes place Friday, Jan. 17, at the Senior Resource Center, 206 E. Stephenson St., Freeport. The second opportunity is geared toward helping adults and takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 29, in the Monroe Clinic St. Clare Conference Center, lobby level, Clinic entrance.

Similar to First Aid and CPR, Mental Health First Aid teaches community members how to better identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses. The training takes place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with registration starting at 7:30 a.m.

Anyone can take the “Mental Health First Aid” course — first responders, students, school staff, leaders of faith communities, human resource professionals or any local citizens.

A fee includes the training, continental breakfast and lunch. To register, contact Tammie Jamiska at 608-324-2639 or tammie.jamiska@ssmhealth.com.
