FALL EXERCISE CLASSES

Indoor classes started September 1. Classes will be held in the gym. Please bring a change of shoes for the gym.

Fitness First: 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Men’s Exercise: 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Chair Pilates: 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays only.

Balanced Yoga: 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Dance Aerobics: Tuesdays and Thursdays, first class is from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m., second class is from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.

Yoga: 12 to 12:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Fusion: 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.


EXERCISE REGISTRATION

No more lines, no more registration and no more stress. Starting in Sept., the Behring Senior Center will offer drop-ins and punch cards for all exercise classes. If you want to “drop-in” to a class, simply pay $3 for a 45-minute session. You can also purchase a “punch card” and save $1 per class. Punch cards are available for $20 for 10 classes or $40 for 20 classes. Because no registration is required, you can try out all of the different exercise classes you want. You can purchase punch cards at the Front Desk and/or Wellness Center Desk. You will have to fill out a liability waiver to participate in exercise classes. Call 608-325-3173 for more information.


CHAIR MASSAGE

Dates: Fridays, October 1st & 22nd, November 5th & 19th and December 3rd & 17th.

Times: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (20 minutes) 

Melissa Kieler is a Massage Therapist at Healing Notes here in Monroe. You will pay Melissa directly the day of your appointment. She accepts cash or check. MASKS REQUIRED. If you need to cancel, please call NO LATER than Wednesday prior to your appointment so they can fill your spot with someone from the waiting list. Call 608-325-3173 to schedule an appointment.


FOOT CARE WITH JULIE

Dates: Tuesdays, October 5th, 12th & 26th, November 9th, 16th & 23rd and December 7th & 14th are the appointments that are available for the next 3 months of the year 2021. Julie does have dates set up for the whole year of 2021 for appointments. Please call 608-325-3173 to make your appointments now. If you need to cancel, please call at least 24 hours in advance so they can fill your spot from the waiting list.

Times: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are around 30 minutes.

Your feet will be soaked, your toenails will be clipped and your heels and other rough areas will be exfoliated. You’ll also get a mini leg & foot massage, as well as a refreshing lemon mist. 

Senior Center Library is open on the 2nd floor. Thanks to everyone who donated books and puzzles during the pandemic. There is a table by the elevator for the returned books and puzzles. 

Table tennis (ping pong) will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Players must wipe down paddles when done, one person has to wipe down the table and ping pong balls.

Pool players get those pool sticks all chalked up and ready to go! The pool Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Only 6 players at a time. No more calling in for appointments. Please call 608-325-3173 for more information about the requirements to play. 


PICKLEBALL

The Pickleball program will begin in September in the gym.

Level 1: beginner/intermediate will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, limited to 8 players.

Level 2: intermediate/advanced will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, limited to 8 players.


CARDS ARE BACK

Card games are back at the senior center from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Playing for fun with no prizes. Please do not show up early or stay late due to new cleaning protocols. Please wash hands before playing. No food or beverages are allowed to be brought into the building. Single-serve beverages are allowed. Mondays: Euchre, Tuesdays: Canasta and Horse & Pepper, Thursdays: 500 and Yass.


BINGO & FLIPPO ARE ALSO BACK

Halloween Bingo will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 15. This event will fill up quickly, so don’t wait to sign up. There is a limit of 24 people. For those who dress up in costume will be entered for “Monroe money”

Flippo will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 22. You must sign up at 608-325-3173 and you have to bring your own deck of cards.


FESTIVE FALL ART CLASS WITH NINA

Date: Thursday, October 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

You will be using acrylics to paint a festive fall banner. No drawing or painting experience needed. Call 608-325-3172 to sign up. Limited to 10 people.


POWER OF ATTORNEY

Do you know the importance of having a Power of Attorney? Wednesday, October 27 Shirley Kelter, from SSM Health, will explain the importance and answer all questions. This would be a great day to sign up to have lunch here at the Senior Center before the program. Call for lunch before 12:30 p.m. on the 26th at 608-325-3040. Then, call the staff at the Senior Center at 608-325-3173 to get registered for the P.O.A. program.


MEDICARE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

Come and join Arthur Cardenas, Jr as he provides important and updated information about Medicare. He will answer all of your questions. He’ll have prizes and refreshments will be served. Please note he is here 2 dates; Wednesday, October 20th and Wednesday November 10th from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Call the Senior Center at 608-325-3173 to make your reservations.


MOVIE TIME IS NOW 2 TIMES A MONTH

Mark your calendars:

Movie 1: Tuesday, October 12 at 1:30 p.m. They will be showing “The War with Grandpa.” Peter and his grandpa used to be very close, but when Grandpa Jack moves in with the family. Peter is forced to give up his prized possession: his bedroom.

Movie 2: Thursday, October 28 at 1:30 p.m. They will be showing “Cruella.” The Disney movie about Estella who is determined to make a name for herself in the fashion world. Soon she meets up with a pair of thieves who get into mischief.

Seating is limited so call early to reserve your seat.


COFFEE & CHAT BOOK CLUB

Date: Monday, October 11

Time: 10 a.m.

Gather and review a number of books. There will be a secret ballot to vote on a book. This month’s book is “The Only Woman in the Room.” The group will meet monthly on Mondays to discuss the book while enjoying a cup of coffee. Reserve your seat by calling 608-325-3173.


ATTENTION VETERANS:

We will be having a Veteran’s Luncheon.

Date: Wednesday, October 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Twining Park — South Shelter

All veterans who are 55 years of age and over. Join us for a lunch of Theresa’s Famous Chili Recipes and cornbread muffins. Please do not arrive before 10:45am. Reserve a spot by calling 608-325-3173.
