City Band to perform Sept. 20 downtown

MONROE - Monroe City Band will perform its Cheese Days free public concert at noon Saturday, Sept. 20, on the Square in Monroe. After opening with The Star Spangled Banner, as arranged by Bull Moffit, the concert will continue with the Swiss Anthem, Schweizerpsalm, as arranged by R. Schneeberger; These from Rosamunde Overture, by Franz Schubert, as arranged by R. A. Bartholomew; Vilia, by Franz Lehar, adapted and arranged by Alfred Reed; Gruss an Bern, by Marsch von C. Friedemann; La Belle Americana, by Warren Barker.

The program will continue with the Cheese Days Song, as prepared by Rudy Burkhalter; highlights from Fiddler on the Roof by Jerry Bock, arranged by John Warrington; Home Stretch, a galop, by LeRoy Anderson and Swing's the Thing, a medley, as arranged by Eric Osterling.

The band is directed by Randy Schneeberger. Announcer for this concert is Deborah Krauss Smith.

The next free public concert by the band will be holiday music on Sunday, Dec. 7.
