MONROE - The Monroe City Band will present its annual Christmas free public concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, in the Monroe United Methodist Church.
This concert follows a similar concert at Pleasant View Nursing Home for residents, their families and staff.
The program will include "Fanfare, Canto and Fandango," from capriccio Espagnol by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov, arranged by Calvin Custer; "Christmas Travelogue," arranged by James Curnow; "Green-sleeves," a traditional tune arranged by Alfred Reed;
"Jupiter" from the Planets, by Gustav Holst; and "An irving Berlin Christmas" by Irving Berlin, arranged by Warren Barker.
Also to be included are "Brazilian Sleigh Bells," by Percy Faith; "Christmas Eve," by Jean Francois Dandrieu, as arranged by Philip Gordon; "Merry Christmas Every-one," a sing-a-long, by Steven Reineke; and "In the Christmas Mood," a medley, arranged by John Wasson.
The program will be followed by a social time for audience and band members.
Nonperishable food items will be collected for the Interchurch Food Pantry.
