MONTICELLO - A collaborative effort known as "Child Development Days" is underway in the Monticello School District. The district has joined together with community partners to educate families about normal child development birth to five years old; to develop community awareness of resources available in the areas of health, education, family support and early intervention, and to identify children in need of further assessment in the areas of physical, sensory, and the developmental areas of gross/fine motor, communication, cognition, social and adaptive skills.

This event is scheduled to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Monticello Community Hall on East Coates Avenue in Monticello.

Parents of children who will be 3- or 4-years- old by Sept. 1, should call the district office at (608) 938-4194 to register for this event. Parents should indicate morning or afternoon preference time for the play based observation when they call. Information packets will be sent to all families who register.

Families who are planning to enroll their 4-year-old in school next fall should participate in the screening.

Families who have children turning 3 by Sept. 1 are also encouraged to participate in the screening.

Parents with children ages birth to three who have developmental concerns regarding a child under the age of 3 will also have the opportunity to visit with Green County's Birth-to-Three Coordinator during this event.
