Main Street Monroe hosted its third annual New Year’s Eve Cheese Drop on Wednesday, December 31 in the downtown square. Families and community members came to the downtown square for camaraderie, drinks, and entertainment, like youth dance students, cheerleaders, New Glarus Jodlerklub and a flame twirling show. The festivities culminated at 5 p.m., which is midnight across central Europe, including Switzerland, the immigrant homeland of many area resident’s ancestors.
