MONROE - Those interested in a career in the cheese industry may take part in a one-day, Dairy Processing Training Workshop on June 29. The workshop begins at 9 a.m. at Blackhawk Technical College, Monroe.
The workshop will feature classroom training with a panel of presenters from Klondike Cheese, Emmi Roth USA and Family Fresh Pack. A tour of Emmi Roth's cheesemaking facility will also be included. Current cheesemakers will describe a typical work day and provide information on available jobs, company benefits and opportunities for advancement. The seminar is presented by the Dairy Business Innovation Center and made possible through funding from the Workforce Investment Act and the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin, which identified dairy training for displaced workers as a priority.
Registration is $10 and includes classroom training, a box lunch, and cheesemaking facility tour. Advance registration is required. To register, contact Kathy Brown at (262) 740-0705 or kathy@planningoptionsinc.com. Space is limited to 40 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
