CEO Kuepers announces MHLC retirement
42-year career comes to an end in 2025
Kathy Kuepers

DARLINGTON — Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County’s CEO, Kathy Kuepers, will retire in 2025.

Kathy Kuepers has been an integral part of MHLC for over 42 years. Throughout her time at the hospital, she has served as a Registered Nurse, Director of Nursing, Chief Operating Officer, and most recently, Chief Executive Officer.

When Kathy became the CEO in 2018, she set the goal of building a new facility. With her pronounced clinical and business skills, MHLC was able to launch the replacement facility project just 3 years later. The 80,000 square foot replacement facility is set to open in the Spring of 2025. In addition to providing the same care, the replacement facility will allow the hospital to offer a destination MRI and will be the sole provider of that service within a 60-mile radius. The replacement facility will also allow the hospital to offer an Electronic Intensive Care Unit (EICU) in cooperation with UW Hospital.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served MHLC, the Lafayette County community and surrounding areas for the past 42 years,” said Kuepers. “It has been an honor to work alongside such a talented and dedicated team.”

“We extend our thanks to Kathy for her service and leadership over the last 42 years,” said Jack Sauer, Chairperson of the MHLC Hospital Committee. “Her contributions have left a lasting impact on our organization, and we wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
